Lyle A Pierson, 89, passed away suddenly at his home on September 10, 2017. He was born in Stockbridge, Michigan on October 30, 1927. Lyle was the oldest son of Glenn and Pearl Pierson and grew up in Michigan with his five brothers. He moved to Florida as a young man and was drafted into the Army three days before his 23rd birthday. While serving, Lyle spent his time in Alaska working on and engineering roads for the troops, which became the Alcan Highway. He met and then married Alberta Smigay on February 10, 1951 in Colorado Springs prior to going to Alaska. They landed back at Camp Carson and made Colorado Springs their life-long residence.
Lyle and Alberta enjoyed 61 years of marriage until her death in 2012. He is survived by their two children Lyle F. (J.R.) and Karen Jean, husband Shannon, beloved grandsons Patrick and Sean, nieces and nephews.
Lyle's lifelong work, from the age of 10, was in the concrete business. His company, Arrow Concrete, valued all of his satisfied customers through the years. Much of his craftsmanship can still be seen all over the State of Colorado. In his younger years, Lyle was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing as well.
Lyle was a charter member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. He was an antique car, truck, and tractor collector and restored many fine vehicles. He enjoyed the fellowship of the many VMCCA Car Club members. The past two years he enjoyed traveling and many activities with his companion, Darlyene Corey.
Volunteering for Care and Share, Habitat for Humanity and Christmas Unlimited gave Lyle joy and purpose in his later years. Contributions can be made in his name to any of these organizations.
