Larry Brown Shipman,73, passed away Thursday January 4th, 2018 at the New Dawn Memory Care Facility in Colorado Springs after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Larry was born on April 3rd, 1944 to the late Arola and Elvie Shipman and spent the majority of his childhood in Nederland CO and was a long time resident of Colorado Springs.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 43 years, Jean (McDonald) Shipman; younger brother, Clayton Walters; loving children, Lora (Dale) Brown, Kara Shipman, Jaime (Jon) Eyre, Ryan Shipman; precious grandchildren, Karly, Dillon, Ava, Evan and his one eyed dog Mia.

Larry graduated from Nederland High School in 1962, then joined the Marines serving our country courageously for 4 years. He had a long career as a top salesman of computer parts for Arrow Electronics. Towards the end of his working journey, he owned the Jolly Giraffe Toy Store in Colorado Springs before retiring at the age of 48.

Wintering in Arizona and spending summers in Colorado he was an avid golfer and happiest on the greens. He loved the beauty and challenge of golfing, accomplishing 3 "hole in one" shots during the course of his golfing career. He also enjoyed vacationing with friends, spending time with family, bowling, hiking with his dogs, reading history, and researching his family ancestry.

Larry is now back on the green golf courses beating all with his "hole in one" luck and shaking his head at the terrible Broncos record this year.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Wednesday January 10th, 2018 at 2pm at the Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of America at 703.359.4440.
